Wildfires in Alberta and Saskatchewan
« on: June 29, 2015, 06:16:39 PM »
Canada is having problems with wildfires too,  They currently have 441 active fires, 125 in Alberta alone.  According to news reports,  this is Alberta'a worst fire season in 5 years.

Yeah... it's getting really smokey down here in the lower 48 from Canadian fires.

Last night I saw a blood-red moon high in the sky.  Very odd, but I didn't know about the smoke from the fires blowing down here until today.

According to the current HMS fire and smoke analysis image, it shows the smoke from those fires drifting down through Oklahoma and part of Texas.

The U.S. Air Quality Smog Blog from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County has some great info on smoke, dust, and air quality in general.

For more info on fire and smoke analysis and mapping, check out the NOAA Hazard Mapping System Fire and Smoke Product website.

WU actually has a better view of all the fires in Alaska, Canada, and the lower 48 US and where the smoke is.  It's amazing how much smoke is being generated from all those fires.

Last spring a couple of friends from Edmonton and I were discussing how this summer could be an bad one due to lack of snow cover. Back then they like I was holding our breath that nothing got started before green up. We got inch of rain today and hopefully that some of the low off SEA will make it over the Rockies and into Alberta.

That is causing the weather service to post this.  Never saw this before. att below

There are air quality warnings in Central Minnesota.  Particles are high. Lots of haze, red full moon pics,  hazy sunlight.
