Author Topic: MB Pro - realtime.txt neither created nor sent by FTP solved (Read 501 times)

Following all available instructions for creating and sending the realtime.txt file created by the realtime.txt template failed in both my MB Pro.
FTP server installed, test file successfully sent - however selecting the template:realtime.txt and entering path + filename with the URL doesn't produce any result.
The exactly same constellation set up in my RPi4 is successful.
What's wrong with the realtime.txt file generation from the template and the forwarding (FTP upload) in the MB Pro (MB Pro 1, build 14236; MB Pro 2, build 14308) ?

What is your Path (File): syntax? Have you included the User & Password in this path?

no user and password - that's not the instruction in the wiki
username and password are entered with the FTP server under Service settings
that entry (user name) and password are used by the services afaik - that's why you have to enter them. And the test FTP works.
And with my MB on RPi it also works - no password or user name in the path (file) - and it's the same target address.
Syntax is: /Folder/realtime.txt - "Folder" is located in the web root - but can be sent to any other Folder on the server from the RPi (without extra user/password)
the wiki says
"When you want to upload data to another FTP server, you can use a fully qualified URL-like FTP notation in the "Path" field. Format of the FTP URI has to be: ftp://user:password@host:port/path. Please notice that none of the elements is allowed to miss. Example: ftp://johndoe:mysecret@ftp.server.com:21/public_html/index.html"
(another I read as other than the ftp server entered under service settings)
If "another" however means "anyway", then the Wiki is simply wrong. (I will try if this is how it has to be with the Pro - which would be pretty weird)

I tried now with ftp://user:password@IP-address:21/Folder/realtime.txt - no success - the upload status says: no FTP upload
So it must be something MB Pro specific (i.e. the software installed on the MB Pro or portions specific for the MB Pro) that keeps it from being successful.

Have always used that syntax by default without any issues including User & Password to differentiate multiple FTP sites

It simply didn't work ...
Now the MB Pro (black) got crazy and ran into a spontaneous reboot ....
and now the FTP works again - with simply the /path/realtime.txt - as expected as the folder is on the same server which is entered in the service settings
- so it was NOT a syntax matter, just somehing else - whatever - maybe 36 days without reboot were too much ...
of course for another ftp server everything needs to be entered - so the wiki is correct here

strangely the sister MB Pro (red) now also can send its FTP files again - without reboot. Before it was similarly blocked.
Somehow the black must have created some congestion .... but how .... ? they are all (including the RPi) connected to the same switch and router.
