Hurricane Felix hurricane hunter flight video
« on: September 05, 2007, 11:36:44 PM »
Somebody posted this on my forum and thought you guys might like to see what it's like to fly into a Cat 5 hurricane...Especially at night! Notice the lightning and how it luminates the entire cockpit after each strike. And also pay attention to the radar. You can see them getting closer and closer to the eye. Enjoy.

Cool!!

You have to wonder how many times they take a lightning hit.  I'd probably have to wear one of those special astronaut diapers and keep a barf bag handy if I road along. 8-[

Seeing a bolt of lightning and the boiling clouds a few feet away from the window would be worth it though.   8)

Talk about exciting hurricane missions... surely everyone has read Jeff Masters' account of his hurricane Hugo flight?
