Custom Graphs
« on: July 28, 2006, 11:04:19 AM »
I have gotten a few inquires about my custom graphs and have decided to take this approach both to make it easier on those interested and myself. I have obtained four new domains (customgraphs.com, .net, .info, and .biz GoDaddy had an extra offer get three for the price of one after the initial domain). Thanks to John (admin) at the Ambient forum for the recommendation to GoDaddy.

You can view the graphs here, and I am in the process of making more: hourly, weekly, monthly and year to date.

Here is a site in progress, I will call him a satisfied "customer":
Air Products Campus Weather

If you are interested in having graphs "like" these (we can customize to your preferences) your graphs would be hosted on my account, free of course, it's just my small way of trying to give back to a great hobby and I love programming, so it's a win/win thing :) . Your graphs would be created/stored on for example: http://customgraphs.com/yourweather. Only thing I would need from you is your custom template (made per my layout) uploaded to your server.

It's a rather simple template:
Code: [Select]

Current station date:<Current station date tag>
Current station time:<current station time tag>
Current temp:<current temp tag>
Current dew:<current dew tag>
Current hum:<current hum tag>
Current bar:<current bar tag>
Current rain rate:<current rain rate tag>
Current days rain:<current days rain tag>
<!--UPLOAD COMPLETE-->

Doesn't really matter which software you use for your weather station, the same template works for WeatherLink and VWS.

This approach is especially useful for those without Perl or MySql access to have their own graphs.

Depending on how much of a response I get to this, if enough, I will upgrade my account with my hosting service (bluehost). They have been EXCELLENT so far, over three months with them and not one time did I catch them being down and I am on here alot.

Anyone interested or have questions feel free to post them here or pm or email me.

Thanks

This is an unsolicited email I received from Matt at WeatherBus.com (quoted with his permission)

David...

I look at these graphs all the time. The 3D Temperature/Dew Point graph
makes it very easy to see when a surge on monsoonal moisture has come into
the area. A surge can be seen in the graph at 22:00.

Thanks!

The graph he is referring to is seen here:
