Ecowitt Wittboy + Home assistant
« on: June 13, 2025, 12:53:21 AM »
Goed mornig,
I'm trying to connect my GW2001: WS90+Gateway 2000V to HA but it doesn't work. I do everything as in the guides and it still doesn’t work. GW 2000 is connected to wifi. One thing I noticed is that the data that HA provides for connecting in is significantly different from what I see in the guides:
Server IP / Host Name: x8bshixh33kcdgervgqd45f8reusr6tm.ui.nabu.casa
Path: /api/webhook/ecfcd752769ce06a29daafb6f20f42d6 Port: 443
System: Home Assistant OS 15.2  (aarch64 / green)
Home Assistant Core: 2025.6.0

As Gyvate has said.

I also have my GW2000 with HA Green and have no problems.
Are you using the correct integration??

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ecowitt
unfortunately the OP is pretty small-lipped regarding his setup/constellation - at first glance his customized server setup doesn't seem to make much sense

As an educated guess I would assume that he tries to reach his HA via https what in a local network is rather sense-free (very special constellations excluded).
From the server FQDN used it looks as if HA (home !!) is running on an internet webhost (who would do that potentially exposing data and automation interference when not having control over the webhost network infrastructure ?)
if you really need https access from outside, there are options either in your router/firewall or by using an http/https proxy locally, even as HA integration (all described by the way in our WiKi)

The Host Name/IP Address that he is using (x8bshixh33kcdgervgqd45f8reusr6tm.ui.nabu.casa) is the cloud ip address of the HA which is used to access the HA from outside the home network and not his local ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8123)

he should first try locally (assuming the GW2000 and HA are in the same local network) with IP address of the HA server and port 8123 as the integration proposes.
Unless the GW2000 is somewhere else, it doesn't need https access to HA.
Then https options can be tested - works with the Ecowitt http/https proxy integration

I have quite little idea about all these things you are talking about :) In order to have remote access to HA I have purchased a cloud in Nabu Casa and it provides this server IP. I tried with the normal integration that you linked here. But also with the one from the add-ons. Ecowitt HTTP proxy, without success. The data that I gave above is what I get from HA in the ecowitt integration.

I get this data from the standard ecowitt integration in HA
I need to read this, wiki, maybe it will clear things up a bit for me

an http access via that cloud is for access only, not for the data being sent by the GW2000 - at least as long the GW2000 and your HA are in the same local network
then the IP of the HA server and the path for the webhook your Ecowitt integration provided when installing a device (the GW2000) in HA and the port 8123 are enough.
You may want to check your router if for the IP address of the GW2000 there is an option to allow local communication which usually defaults to "not allowed".
That's often done by routers for WLAN devices.

So, then you should be able to access your HA via a webbrowser under its IP address and the port 8123: http://IP-address:8123.

If it doesn't work (unusual), try to connect your GW2000 via an Ethernet cable to your router - it will get a new IP address, but that's only relevant for configuring the Customized server.
The Customized server configuration will remain the same.

Once this (the local access) works you can think of accessing HA from outside the local network via https.
One step after the other !!

the Ecowitt integration cannot handle https requests (port 443) - therefore this message is wrong.
Try first the local access - and once it works we can take it from there.
But maybe you have configured HA with this domain name (URL), that would then also not be helpful

Look in HA at Settings --> System --> Network
there it should look like this - your network data have to be adjusted - the IP address of your HA in your local network put here (and if the subnet is not 192.168.1.0, you have to put the one you [your router] use[s ])

thanks for the answers, I tried the first method via wifi but it didn't work. See the screenshots of how I had it set up. I didn't find this option in the router, but I'm attaching photos, maybe you can see it? I'll try via cable now

I don't use this, but why IPV6 in the 2nd photo, I would assume you would want IPV4

Your customized section for the GW2000 should look like this:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

protocol : Ecowitt
Server IP / Hostname: the IP Address of your HA Green
Webhook:  Provided when setting up the integration
Port: 8123
Upload Interval: 60

Follow the steps in the Wiki. https://meshka.eu/Ecowitt/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=dataloggers#homeassistant
You may be better off deleting your existing integration and start again.

I do chuckle at you guys hiding your LAN IPs... (Which are private behind a NAT)
I can see hiding your WAN.

But , I guess better safe than sorry

it worked. great, thank you very much for your help. The problem was in the incorrect settings. But there was also something wrong with the router, I think. I restored it to factory settings, I entered everything again in ecowitt and it worked.
Can this refresh every 60 seconds be reduced somehow?

It can.
Again, more useful information in the Wiki:

I guess by "reduced" you mean shorter intervals - because reduced could also mean longer intervals = less often  8-)
between 8 seconds and 240 minutes everything is possible

240 Minutes ?
My GW2000 will only accept a value between 8-600 sec (10 min)

I can't shorten this refresh. I have it set to 10 sec and it's still 1 min

This Update Interval refers to the upload from the GW2000 to HomeAssistant , not the interval to Ecowitt.net.
Data at this frequency van be viewed on the HA Dashboard from a web browser on http://your_HA_Ip_ddress:8123/lovelace/0 (local IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:8123)

The upload to Ecowitt.net can only be set intervals of  minutes (1,2,3,5,or 10) on the "Ecowitt" tab  of the "Weather Services"
Live Data is available to view on the WSView+ .
Or on a web browser with a pc by typing in the IP Address of you GW200A.  Note: If you have NOT set a password, you do not need one on this page.
