it shouldn't make a difference being connected via WLAN or LAN (Ethernet) - it usually works with any.
Another option to do the firmware upgrade is via the WS View Plus app.

Same thing happens to me. For the last few firmware update cycles it never finds the newer version. I have to reset it by holding the center button and then it immediately finds the new update. My GW2000 is also connected with cable, although I agree, it should not matter.

One thing I noticed that seems to work correctly, and in 2.2.2. did not for me, is the auto time zone setting. In 2.2.2 it was off by an hour.

Updated to the latest version, no issues
But this morning no connection to my internet, both leds were not lighted
Strange, I thought it must be a bad WiFi signal
Moved the GW2000 nearer to my router, still no connection
The LEDs did not light up steady
It was as if the GW2000 was in constant reset
Well it was, the button in the middle somehow got stuck in the pressed position  ](*,)
Sorted that out, then restarted the GW2000 and it works fine, all my settings were lost though
So check the button if you have the same sort of issues I had

I'm glad it works again

you're not the first one to run into this issue - it usually comes when you don't press in the very center; then the stick extension of the center piece which presses the switch on the mainboard can get either dislocated or stuck ... we already had cases here
Then you have to open the GW2000 what usually frees the reset button on the PCB.

Are there any instructions on how to open the GW2000 somewhere on the forum?

2. Add static ip Settings.

Oliver
What a bizarre idea. Static IP address is assigned by your network DHCP server - MAC blah has a static IP blablah.

Yes it can be but does not have to be. I have a range of IPs which allows for me to assign static IPs directly in devices and this IP range is NOT included in my DHCP server range. In fact it is not always possible to assign enough static IPs relying on some routers which have a maximum number allowed for static IPs.

not sure if I posted one earlier - see below the photos - they make it obvious what to do (you need a screwdriver or a (not too sharp but thin) knife to go between the body edge and the cover edge).
the pictures look a bit dark, but you can see all you need  8-)

If you have that many devices that need static IP's (why?), you need to get a better router :) And as you probably know, on a sane and manageable network, only very few devices actually need a static IP.

Ouch.. some very strong opinions there.
I have dozens of static IPs with DHCP reservations using BIND named and ISC DHCP servers, in addition to regular DHCP address for phones, guests, what have you.   Static because I have many running computers, operating systems, weather gateways, cable boxes etc..

could they all run via DHCP and no reservations?  sure! But I would never be able to address them by name when I want to connect to them.  Getting a better router isn't always an option. Take FIOS in the US for example, using your own personal router with MOCA is fun, and painful if you want to have caller ID on your TV, or pay per view etc..  it can be done, with some restrictions. And Verizon usually has (or rather had) some very poor routers with RAM limitations.

Why?
I run 11 security cameras at the house, in their setup I establish a static IP.
I also do this for other devices , the Roku units, the Ooma VoIP set up, the servers , like the NVR,  The DNL, and the TVs

Anything I can Static from the device, I will
I'm using Asus routers (3) , 1 as primary and 2 as APs
I have roughly 60 things connected.

Now there is a benefit  to not having certain items static at the device, that would be for items, laptops, cellphone , that will move outside your network... like taking your laptop to work, you don't want the adapter to be static, but only static at home, for that , yes static it at the router.

Benefit of Static, overall, at the device, your router goes south, dies, recovery is easier if the individual items are static IP

I'm not going to even discuss that a lot of computing systems have gone to a randomized MAC, in which case, if you avail yourself of the random mac, and want to find said device on the network , with a router static, you will have a lot of fun

Just an update on my GW2000
I had a stuck reset button, now it has really messed up my GW2000
This morning all my settings were lost, I edited all the settings for WIFI and so on
Things were working okay, were....
After some time the both LEDs dim and connection is lost, so this evening again via the GW2000 wifi access I updated the settings yet again then the wifi is connecting ok and things appear to be fine
But now again the GW2000 shuts down
I guess my update of the firmware went wrong
I do not see anything of the things mentioned in the firmware update
So no switch for the wifi lan etc
Is there a way to redo the firmware upgrade?
I might have upgraded with the button stuck....it is not a wifi issue from my router because it was good for at least the past 6 months
When I go to the GW2000 embedded webpages in my browser for additional settings I get the message this page does not exist
So the Network settings is reachable all other pages are NOT
Bad luck for me I guess, I got a brand new WS90 and now my GW2000 is having trouble

Any help would be appreciated
This is no fun at all

I think there is definitely something wrong with my firmware upgrade, also the starting up process takes way to long after power cycle, 5 mins is no exception

And I had this strange Mac adress singularity, on the GW 2000 my MAC adress ends with 0B in the network settings but in my router it is showing as 08
This was already when I got my station but I had no issues with this
I had a mail conversation about this with Ecowitt in the past but they assured me it was 0B anyhow I rely on my routers finding
I will try a cabled connection soon to see if it makes a difference

So, there may be 2 issues here . One a prolonged depressions of the button, or the actual firmware.

I don't think it is the firmware, but then possibly a messed up install , not your doing but due to the stuck button.

How long was the button stuck?

And yes, you do seem to have a lot of bad luck

Because I cannot get the GW2000 to work properly I ordered a new one
Also with cabled internet connection no luck
I will keep the old one for parts
It is definitely the upgrade of firmware which went wrong in my opinion

But even before the upgrade I had sometimes a GW2000 that stopped completely and only could be revived by a power cycle

It can get stuck sometimes when you have both interfaces LAN and WLAN activated and connected and traffic is running simultaneously across both.
That's an early observation of mine. You cannot tell the GW2000 which interface to use when it posts or replies to requests in such a scenario ...
Better to use either ... or - even though it seems to have become more stable in this respect over time.

It shouldn't but it does, I have the same problem. There is some glitch somewhere OR router incompatibility. My GW200 is still stuck on V2.2.0 because its not seeing the new update (no wifi, just ethernet connect). GW1100 and GW1000 already updated no problem.

But, this new feature for WLAN switch could solve this problem for me.

it shouldn't make a difference being connected via WLAN or LAN (Ethernet) - it usually works with any.
Another option to do the firmware upgrade is via the WS View Plus app.

Since updating to v2.2.3 I've noticed issues.
Using Ethernet only and wifi switch off.

1-When on ip setting DHCP the gw2000 broadcast and can be seen on any device searching for wifi.
2-When on static ip and after rebooting the gw2000 it is hidden from wifi on other devices.
However, no data can be seen on WU or weather cloud. Ecowitt works fine.

Before the updating both my gw2000's work fine. Now if I want to hide from wifi I need to use static ip. However, no weather services work.

Will dig more into to this later.....

Re: new firmware version for GW2000: V2.2.3
« Reply #49 on: March 09, 2023, 10:52:14 AM »
Since updating to v2.2.3 I've noticed issues.
Using Ethernet only and wifi switch off.

1-When on ip setting DHCP the gw2000 broadcast and can be seen on any device searching for wifi.
2-When on static ip and after rebooting the gw2000 it is hidden from wifi on other devices.
However, no data can be seen on WU or weather cloud. Ecowitt works fine.

Before the updating both my gw2000's work fine. Now if I want to hide from wifi I need to use static ip. However, no weather services work.

Will dig more into to this later.....
Go to GW2000 settings (via web browser or app)
Select "Local Network" and set address modes foe Eth and WIFI to DHCP
Then go to "Device Settings" and Disable the gateway's self broadcasting SSID
Don't forget to click "Apply"
