Wittboy GX2000 - disable self broadcast wifi
« on: January 23, 2023, 03:08:26 AM »
Hi

No matter how many times I try to adjust device settings in WSView Plus  my GW2000 continues to broadcast its own unsecured wifi.
Any ideas how to get it to turn off.

Thanks

I do not have one of these gateways but I wonder if you are connecting it via cable? If so try connecting via wi-fi and see if it then turns off? This option works fine on my GW1100 but that uses wi-fi!

I suggest that if you're using the latest f/w on the GW2000 then contact Ecowitt support to see what they say.

Have you tried reconfiguring the primary power coupling? Unplug power and let it sit for for about five minutes, then try again.

yes, connect to your GW2000 via its WebUI: http://IP-address-of-your-GW2000
once connected go to Device Settings and you will find the option "Device IP Auto off" - tag

then reboot

the difference is in how and by what software the console is contacted and programmed
In theory the WS View Plus app approach should also work - and it somehow did as you say - only not realtime but with some delay. Possibly rebooting would have acceerated the process.

I have not looked at this with the GW2000, but is there a chance , that like the GW1000 , there is a delay (forget how long it is, 5 minutes I thought), before the AP is disabled?

Other words, you had to wait that long for the AP to stop on the unit.

Did some playing around with the gw2000.

If you never / don't setup wifi you don't broadcast. And I still have full access on the wsview-plus app.
If you did setup wifi there is no work around to remove the wifi setting other than a full reset.

However, with the advanced ip scanner tool it still shows the dead wifi mac address. Maybe that will fall-off at some point.

I'm running my two GW2000 on Ethernet/LAN connection only and there hasn't been any issue in configurating (WS View Plus or WebUI) or updating (WS View Plus or WebUI) so far.
