WS-5000-ip
« on: December 31, 2022, 12:08:49 PM »
I just purchased the WS-5000-ip thinking it came with the desktop console. Can a console be added to the IP model or should I return it and get the WS-5000 console model? I have not installed the system yet so it would be easy to return after the new year.

Can you post a link to what you exactly bought?

If it is a package without the console, you can buy it separately , but it might be more expensive as opposed to a package that contains it. So you might want to return the unit , and buy the package you wanted. Note the console does add quite a bit to the price.

the WS-5000-IP is the ObserverIP 2.0 module + the Ultrasonic 6-in-1 outdoor array + the WS-5000-RAIN rain gauge and the WH32 indoor 3-in-1 sensor - it's a WS-5000 without a display console.
you can add a console:
the WS-5000 console or an Ecowitt HP2550 or a WN1980 console (shop.ecowitt.com)
all three will work with your sensors
The Observer IP 2.0 model is a displayless console which can post to ambientweather.net - the Ecowitt consoles post to ecowitt.net
With an additional Ecowitt console you can have both worlds available
The Ecowitt consoles can receive the Ambient sensors (the ultrasonic array and the rain gauge).
The HP2550 console will be able to use the indoor 3-in-one T/RH/P sensor which the ObserverIP 2.0 will need.
The WN1980 has its own indoor sensors but cannot display solar data (radiation and UV).
