NWS Alerts - CAP v1.1 Terminating?
« on: October 11, 2022, 04:44:39 PM »
Hello all,

I was doing a little routine maintenance, and while checking into a new coastal zone I wanted to add to my coverage, I noticed this message on the landing page:

What does this mean for those of us using the ATOM/XML feeds for NWS Alert data?

As long as they continue to offer ATOM/RSS feeds from, the change to CAP v1.2 shouldn't impact our scripts.  The advforecast2.php V5 script does fetch alerts in JSON format and will continue to do so.  The nws-alerts, atom-advisory and atom-top-warning scripts all use the ATOM XML feeds.

I'll make any required changes to those scripts above if needed.
