Topic: new firmware version for GW2000: V3.0.6

Hi!

There's a new firmware version V3.0.6 available for the GW2000.
Use the current WSView Plus app or the web interface of the GW2000 ("Device Setting") to update.

Changelog for V3.0.6:

• Supports IOT device WFC01
• Support smart scene funtion
• Support WN34D temperature sensor (-55~125 ℃)
• Fixed some known bug

Installed now - no problems found so far.

Funny, my WSView Plus app does not see an available firmware, states my 3.0.5 is the latest

what is strange is that the changelog is exactly the same as for versions 3.0.4 (withdrawn shortly after release) and 3.0.5 
The WN34D sensor support appears to be rather facetious, as a WN34D is handled like any other WN34 - and this is already possible since long. I don't think the API needed to be changed - rather the sensor has to make itself known as a WN34. Maybe some min/max threshold inside the console firmware needed to be changed to display the new extended temperature range.
This would then, however, necessitate changes with firmware for all gateway API consoles and the HO25x0, HP350x consoles.

Not exactly. The WN34D was not mentioned in the previous updates.

But I would also like to see a little more care taken with the changelogs.

yes, but as mentioned before - WN34 exist since long - and if a QC function for limiting temperature readings exists inside the firmware, it has to be changed for all consoles (except WS2320E and WH2910). That's the only support I can think of.

Maybe (for the time being) only the participants of the beta programme for the WFC01 will receive the update again?
Or the update was inadvertently assigned only to the beta group and not to the global GW2000 group. At least Ecowitt has this option of distributing an update to devices in a list with specific MAC addresses.
I (WFC01 beta tester) was offered the update via the WebUI of the GW2000. I had not checked this in the app.

Or - as with other devices - it will be delivered in waves and it will just take a little longer.

I'm in the beta group, so you may be right. I was also offered the update in the web interface.

3.0.6 seems to have been made available for the WFC01 beta test group only.

I have one GW2000 on the "general" GW2000 firmware test group, and it doesn't get 3.0.6 offered either (or I was taken off the list without notice).
Conclusion - not yet for public use, only for a selected audience - and unless you are a WN34D user (which is not officially available for purchase yet as per today), you may not need it anyway.

I have asked Ecowitt for clarification. After all, I thought that with v3.0.5 both branches (beta/public) were merged.

I can confirm that the update of version V3.0.6 is only distributed to the beta testgroup (the reason is unknown to me).

My test GW2000 which is in the beta distribution list is showing the update, while my production GW2000 is not showing the update, neither when I click the Check Firmware button.

the WN34D handling will be applied to all console firmware (except WS2320E, WH2910) in a future upgrade, as the console will have new thresholds for the WN34D regarding sensible temperature reporting as compared to a normal WN34. For the GW2000 beta this has already been done - see changelog

Hi!

After checking with Ecowitt, version v3.0.6 was only accidentally assigned to the WFC01 beta group and not to the general public.
The error has now been fixed - now all GW2000 should be able to find the update to v3.0.6.
