Recent shipping charge from Ecowitt to Canada?
« on: May 12, 2023, 07:45:21 PM »
I'm planning on purchasing a HP2553 soon, as my old remote has died. I figure that it is a sign to upgrade! But the difference in price between Ecowitt and Amazon.ca is simply shocking, $110! If the shipping charges from China actually bump it up that much, by the time I do the Reship into the U.S., Ambient Weather becomes pretty darn competitive. I thought perhaps I should ask!

You may have to consider that the price at shop.ecowitt.com does not include the shipping and the import tax either (either your 5% GST or, depending on the province you live in/get the goods delivered, 13% HST or GST + PST)
while on amazon.ca this should be already all included
see https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/postal-postale/dtytx-drttx-eng.html
The shipping price at shop.ecowitt.com is only displayed in the last step before purchase.

Your profile says you live in the us.

You could purchase off Amazon US and buy the outside array from AW.
Or: IMO a setup I like better,

There ARE U.S. made weather stations out there to consider. Davis for one. Cape Cod for another. Maximum. Peet Brothers / Ultimeter. The list goes on. Besides, nothing personal, but try American made. It may just last you three, four, five or more TIMES longer than the "stuff" from China.

I've simply been going off the tons of magazine reviews for PWS on the market. Over and over Ambient Weather would come up as the best value for the money. In general the statement was that I would have to double the price to get close to matching the quality and features. While I prefer to buy American-made, I have a limit to how much pain I will endure to do so. But I will try to find out about those companies, as I am not familiar with them.
