Quite warm...
« on: July 18, 2022, 09:01:56 AM »
Currently 35C here, Norfolk, UK the interesting thing is, my Davis FARS is 35.3C, Davis extra temp in my home made is 35.1C and Ecowitt is 35.8C, i think that's pretty darn good, i see the Ecowitt tracks quite nicely, just impressed with my homemade effort, tube in a tube with insulation foam in between and a fan at the top and bottom.

Temps are still rising, so may see 38C here and poss the elusive 40C, lets hear it for AirCon :)
Since starting this post it's gone up .4, but fluctuates..
Kind regards
Bashy

Bearing in mind I'm about 800yards from the English Channel at about 130feet asl it got to just over 32C here at 15:10 today and unlikely to get higher now, dropped to about 27C now. About 1C below my current all time record.

Bad news folks, already 10C higher than same time yesterday.
A/C in a caravan already switched on. Will decamp there with the dogs if necessary.
We're supposedly on the edge of the hot stuff, best of luck to you folks that will be in the thick of it. :-(

Minimum last night was 20°C and right now 24.9°C at 09:44. Not sure if we will beat my all time record today, it was close yesterday. BBC is suggesting 35°C here as max and UKMO is saying 34°C, my WXSim is saying 31°C max. Lets see who's correct!

My WXsim says 35c today - BBC says 34c

I'd already hit 29C.
Windy forecast 27C, I don't find the BBC forecasts very reliable, let's hope today isn't the exception [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Unfortunately those storms are heading NW.
The temperature race is one I will happily lose, but I don't like these gauges.

Now that's rubbing salt in the wounds

I watered mine last night, and some plants are already looking unhappy.

30 Degrees Celsius (C) Equals 86 Degrees Fahrenheit (F) or 30 C = 86 F

86 is nothing.

I've been in the upper 90s for weeks.  Have hit 100 once and may do it again next week.

The issue here in the UK is that our infrastructure was not built for these kinds of temperatures, none of our ordinary houses have aircon neither do many older offices and shops. The railway tracks are not built with enough expansion gaps to cope in this heat.

Further, we are not used to it.
Although on a visit to my dentist last week, he was complaining about the heat. He is from S. Africa, go figure.
Prior to retirement, I had to do business trips to Phoenix and L.A. my catchphrase was hit the max.
Problem, the brick wall when the car door was opened, and the subsequent dash to air conditioned comfort.

Currently 36C here and pavement is 50+, minimum for last night was 18, inside was workable at about 24C, but thats where ethe aircon is, in the kitchen, I think it produces more heat than cool lol

Thankfully, it's now clouded over, and the temperatures started to drop.
Managed to keep the caravan down at 21C. Now switched off.
Bad news, Cornwall and Devon nicked all the rain, didn't leave enough to tip my bucket  ](*,)

Our typical end of June/August weather. Nice and warm at day time, cold at night.
