Ambient WS1401-IP in snow and cold weather
« on: January 02, 2022, 12:16:56 PM »
I am impressed. It has been about 7months since installing my station here in Alaska. I had worries that with the lack of sun in Winter (around 5 hours) and the below zero temperatures (-20° F so far) would render the station useless, but it keeps reporting. The only reason it stops is with the occasional power outage. The GW1000 resets and connects automatically to my router but the IP Observer needs a power cycle to reconnect after a power loss. The only issue so far is with snow accumulation on the instrument package, it stops the anemometer from spinning and in some cases blocks the wind vane and covers the solar cell. A short brisk walk and a broom to clear the snow and everything spins.
