Utility to get encoder information about a video file
« on: December 05, 2021, 05:58:53 PM »
Years ago there was a neat little utlity called GSpot (yeah it makes for some interesting hits on Google when you look it up without the modifier 'encoder', that would be able to analyze a video file and tell you tons of stuff about the file, like the encoder used for video and audio, the bit rate, and on and on.

Like all good things, that came to and end when the developer stopped updating back in 2007.

Are there any current programs which can tell you the encoders used?
Thanks for any leads.  Dale

How about here https://www.metadata2go.com/ this tells you no end about a video, codecs etc, just tried it, there's a lot of info

Just looking at one of my videos in VLC and it's quite limited to what it shows, it does, however, show the codec used and i assume that that is what Dale is after, see the image attacthed?

That link i put up, i found it on google this morning and the amount of info it shows is vast, probably useless mind but i have enclosed a PDF of what it comes up with for the same video
Kind regards
Bashy
