gw1100 vs gw2000
« on: July 13, 2022, 10:23:25 PM »
Is it worth upgrading from a gw1100 to gw2000? What are the advantages of upgrading?

Hi!

Not much. But there're some differences:
  • RJ45 copper LAN socket
  • much more power with the ESP32 MCU - thus more possibilities in the future
  • internal T/H sensors are much more reactive
The firmware is the same with all goodies like web interface, http API, ...

Whether the greater technical possibilities (such as multiple parallel threads for sending to the various services or querying via GW1000 API) are already being used, I don't know for sure.
However, I would assume that they are.
Not having to rely on WIFI and being able to assign a static IP for the RJ45 network port is an incentive to buy.

Has anyone measured the current draw of the gw2000?
I'm intrigued for my solar powered project.

there are also a few more let me call them "softfeatures" coming along with the GW2000 (some of which are of course a matter of taste  8-))
- no protruding USB plug, rectangular power plug instead
- more attractive design (matter of taste)
- can be easily fixed to the wall (comes with a detachable mount)

I'm intrigued for my solar powered project.

I measured the following
Startup: 150-180mA@5V
Running: 70-90mA@5V

Edit: I just remeasured and adjusted values after a longer runtime. This was done with somewhat cheap USB power meter.

It is pretty close, maybe a tad higher. I was getting about 70mA pretty constant on the gw1000 and gw1100 running without the occasional 90mA bump up.

Thank you.  That's close enough to the GW1000 to look into it.
I expected a slight increase just because of the more powerful cpu.

Is the HP-2550/etc Console still based on Windows Mobile as an OS or Android? Has anybody done custom display themes?

I don't get the context with Windows mobile ....
In what way were the GW1000/GW1100 connected to Windows mobile ?
Without knowing this your question regarding the GW2000 cannot be answered.
Could you explain your "custom display themes" a bit more in detail ?
Not quite clear what you are talking about ...

The panel used by the WS-2000 uses the Windows Mobile OS. Some enterprising folks modded the display assets to improve the layout of the display. Bases on the physical characteristics of the current panels they are based on a similar design.
