Howdy folks. I've been a user of AcuRite for many years. I've finally gotten tired of the issues and troubles, and it's time to move on. Been checking around different products (based on my owns needs/wants), and I would venture a guess that I will be getting an AW WS-5000 at some point on the future. But, I do have a couple questions just so I know exactly what I'm getting into.
First of all, lightning detection. I understand that the info of lightning is passed along to ambientweather.net (for viewing on the web or through the app), but is any lightning information displayed on the stand-alone monitor? Heck, as far as that goes, do ANY of the add-on sensors (lightning, PM25 particulate) display on the stand-alone monitor, or again, are these add-ons sensors solely for viewing via the app and web?
Next, regarding ambientweather.net and the app. I have been watching the stations of a few people (both on AW website and via the app), and their stations don't auto-refresh the data. I have to manually refresh to make it current. Is this just the way it is, OR is it simply because I am viewing someone else's station and not my own (which obviously, I don't have yet)? If my OWN station data will auto-refresh (both on aw.net and the app), then all is well.
Thanks again for your help. Can't wait to get away from InAcuRite.
