Getting Cumulus data into CumulusMX
« on: May 11, 2020, 05:24:56 PM »
Just switching over to MX and stuck on a data import (from Cumulus) issue!

I came across an old post from mcrossley which said “ The data files can be used "as is", no changes required.
The settings file requires a couple of minor edits - detailed in the first post of the MX thread on the Cumulus forum. (Date format symbols have changed slightly for the NOAA reports, and a section name in the ini file changes capitalisation - MX is case sensitive, C1 wasn't)”

Unfortunately, try as I might, I have not been able to find MX thread that tells me exactly what minor edits are required to the settings file. Could someone help me out please?

Thanks

On several occasions I have interchanged the data files between Cumulus1 and CumulusMX without doing anything to the data or files.  Just copy the \data folder from one, and paste in to the other.

I have also started CumulusMX with using the Cumulus1 cumulus.ini (just rename it with a capital C to Cumulus.ini).  You can then refine any of the the settings in the CumulusMX dashboard Settings tab.

Presumably you have read
https://cumuluswiki.org/a/FAQ#Should_I_use_Cumulus_1_or_Cumulus_2_or_Cumulus_3_.28MX.29.3F
https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus_MX
https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus.ini

Keep a good copy of Cumulus1 files, and try CumulusMX from a separate install.  You'll soon become comfortable with it.  If you have added or modified the template files for web upload then you need to read the webtags date and time format section

Enjoy,
Paul
