WS View Android app
« on: January 14, 2020, 04:07:28 PM »
I thought i'd make a post regarding this.

I noticed some members have the max wind speed/gust on their app, but there's no sign of it on mine.

App version 1.1.36
GW1000 version 1.5.5

Android 10 (it didn't show on Android Pie either)

Hi!

On my device the "Day Wind Max" is shown. But I do have a GW1000A. Perhaps the "A" makes a difference?

Thanks

Perhaps it is the newer model then? Which obviously stores values unlike the older GW-1000. That's a shame.

Hi again,

is this value just not shown in the app or not saved in the device at all?
Do you have an html-packet in Ecowitt-protocoll? Should be shown as "maxdailygust".

I have one of the oldest GW1000 as I was beta tester and it shows the daily max wind. GW1000B 915 MHz.

Firstly lets not get hung up on GW1000A, B
Default = 433Mhz
A= 868Mhz
B= 915Mhz

I have both versions of the GW1000A, an early first edition and a second edition model
One GW1000 is looking at the Tri-Wing sensor array and the newer is using the WS80 Ultrasonic array
Both of these display the 'Day Win Max' on the WS-View App
I have tried this on Android 10 and 5
I have version 1.1.36 installed which was last updated 27th December 2019

OK, so what's different.
Do you have the WS68 separate anemometer rather than the Tri/Bi-wing all in one?
Just guessing that perhaps Ecowitt have forgooten to add this for the WS68 sensor!

Yep - standalone W68.

On a side note; Today, I have noticed that Ecowitt's API returns lightning from the future..

Chuckle....

Looks like we have found our culprit then, clearly a coding error in the WS-View app for WS68 sensor data.
I am pretty sure that the value in question is a relatively new addition to the data displayed.

OK, follow up on this issue.
I discussed with Lucy and the engineers and they have found the bug in the code of WS-View.
There should be a new release soon to fix this and then the folks using the WS68 separate anemometer will see that value displayed.

I thought i'd make a post regarding this.

I noticed some members have the max wind speed/gust on their app, but there's no sign of it on mine.

App version 1.1.36
GW1000 version 1.5.5

Android 10 (it didn't show on Android Pie either)

 [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

How do you even get that view on your app!?  Is that specific to the GW1000?

Yes, only the GW1000 has that view. This is because only the GW1000 has the local network API (pull method). This is how software like Cumulus MX, Meteobridge, and Weather-Display get data from the GW1000.

Try updating firmware to the latest 1.5.7 by going to More => Device setting. Unless this is the latest version for your frequency model.
Mine is GW1000 433MHz on 1.5.7 and I can see daily wind max.
