the new version of gw1000 has a little software improvements and, most important, a reception range extended to 200 mt
you don't need to wait, write to ecowitt and ask about new version

As Mauro says the differences are minimal and there is no physical or logical difference in the device to see.
I suspect that if you purchase one now you'll get the new model.
