WS 2315 Battery Life
« on: February 13, 2009, 03:12:53 PM »
I am having continuing problems with Battery Life on my Remote sensor that is in wireless mode.

Life is approx 6 weeks.

 I have to climb a ladder, disassemble the Solar radiation shield to get at the sensor and replace the batteries each time.

All I have gotten from LaCrosse is :

"Batteries are our #1 warranty issue. Please be sure you are using name brand Alkaline batteries dated 6 years in advance or testing to at least 1.48 on a voltmeter"

My last old set of removed Batteries showed 1.71 and 1.65 V on my voltmeter.  :?

Has anyone solved this problem successfully ?  ](*,)
Can I wire a transformer to replace the batteries ?

Thanks

Kevin

If you google around, you can find instructions for replacing the AAs with a couple of dowels, screws, and connect them up to a wall wart that outputs 3VDC.

6 weeks seems very low...

I am wondering if the console is losing 'sync' with the remote due to noise or some other issue.

The next time it dies, try holding down the + key on console until it beeps twice. It will then search for the remote sensor.

If it comes back, my guess is that the remote is a tad too far from the console.
