Then you might find our friend Heatcat's page interesting...

Also see Nick's developing thread

and for results, see http://noaaweatherradio.org  and put a couple of those radios online...

Reecom Model: R-1630

Have one in my bedroom next to my weather station console.

Also have two of these at the school I work for, one of them activates a red strobe above the Tornado Shelter entrance (programmed to activate for the first 5 minutes of any Tornado Warning in our county).

I have 2 Model: R-1650's and a Midland-WR120.
The Reecoms are nice because you do away with all nuisance alarms Except Tornado Warning plus they have an earphone jack for streaming. Radio reception AM/FM not bad either.

+1 on the Reecom R-1630, I have a couple of them for home use and one I used to stream to weather underground for many years so it was on 24/7.

I went in kind of a different direction with one of my setups.  I picked up a SDR dongle https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0129EBDS2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and also picked up this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018VVTMGW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to loop back the speaker audio from the computer back to the input of the sound card to feed the broadcasting software.  To run the SDR dongle I use this program http://v2.sdr-radio.com/v3_help but any SDR program should work.  I also picked up one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00COW5E3A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 so that I could put and external antenna on it and the result is this http://depereweather.com/wxnoaaradio.php.  It was kind of a fun project and works well.

Overall I'm very happy with my REECOM 1650-D (or you could get the 1630 if you don't need an AM/FM radio). It observes the End Of Message tone and is pretty easy to setup but the text on the LCD screen for some of the settings is really tiny.
