Topic: WS1001 clones layout modification with new firmware 2.3.3

hi

over the last few months many requests for the WS1001 layout modification however i was somewhat concerned at the bricking of units when users were upgrading to 2.2.9 , i stayed on 2.2.5 , anyway this morning i decided to update the firmware to 2.3.3 release by ambient https://ambientweather.wikispaces.com/ws1001-wifi.

at the same time i took the opportunity to package the modification up into a release .

the download is the new firmware 2.3.3 and includes latest modification to the layout , it does not differ much beyond the original layout modification from last year.

updated weather icons ,added the infamous disappearing minus symbol etc..

please note the download is set for european wireless at 433mhz if you are in the US you need to change it in the main.ini file

Updating Firmware Instructions:
1. Download the latest zip file (below) to your your computer. Make a note of where you saved this file.
2. Extract the zip file.
3. Copy the extracted folder Update EasyWeather to your MicroSD Card (the SD card must be empty).
4. Power down your display console by removing AC power.
5. Insert the SD Card into the display console.
6. Power up the display console.
7. The console will verify the firmware was updated.

Do you make changes to the firmware .ini files? It seems like it would better just to release the Themes folder. Then have a readme.txt file telling what changes to make in the .ini files for themselves if they desire them.

When I update my panel, I simply replace the Themes folder on the SD card before updating. Then I don't have to change things in the panel memory where I think there is more risk.

It also seems we have a new source for the new Themes and hopefully our current source can be updated, but I can't even remember where it is on the internet.

I have found the last source for the Themes folder and it is the one I am using. It is a dropbox file

There are numerous differences listed below. The Sun and Moon pictures are completely replaced. Other pictures replaced. And the Font files contain a negative in one but not the other.

Basically we have two forks going on the Themes directory development unless we can come up with a single merge.

I have labeled your latest directory with today's date. The .DS_Store directories can be ignored.

only problem with that is no difference apart from mainlight.png to the original factory theme file .


seems like that download is just using the modified mainlight.png i did last year and nothing else .

i don't have square block issues, i fixed the minus appearance on solar index many months ago .

so i don't see anything creative there happening .

as for your suggestion about just issuing a theme file . probably better way to go but will have to wait till next week busy few days ahead ..

as long it works thats the main thing what files you choose if your preference .


as for just using the theme.ini and theme folder again as long it works it dont matter how you do it .

ill update it over the weekend to just have theme files .

for now its a full update download..

My clone is a Froggit HP-1000 bought from Amazon.de.

The frequency it uses is 868Mhz.

If in doubt, look at the back of the inside sensor, the correct frequency is on a sticker there.

Hi, I have to thank Brian, I upgraded with software modified by him my HP1003 weather station, upgrade went perfectly well and now my station displays in its display the new layout, so I recommend to those who have this station model, to upgrade by minisd, important to change the update number (example from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 on main.ini and update.ini files). As soon as I can post a photo.

Per errore ho fatto l'ultimo aggiornamento di ambiente ws1001.
Ora il display continua a caricare e non si collega alla stazione esterna.
È possibile fare un reset e caricare aggiornamenti froggit.
