Where is the sensor for solar radiation located?
« on: December 29, 2015, 05:02:05 PM »
I live in the north country and on the north side of a hill so don't get any direct sunlight for almost 2 months in the winter. Yesterday the rechargeable batteries died on my WS 1400 IP and I put in some non-rechargable batteries and blocked off the solar panel so it wouldn't be trying to recharge them. I am  still geting anywhere from 20 to 45 watts per sq meter with the solar pnl blocked off! This is the normal amount I have been seeing from my station on WU for this time of the year.  I had always assumed it got its reading from the photo voltaic panel but I would have to say now that's not the case. Anyone know where on the station the sensor is located?

Disregard, I finally figured where I had the owners manual filed and dug up the info. Turns out it is located at the opposite end of the station from the solar pnl. It is behind the rain collector on the north end.
