After 15 years I upgraded to the Leuven Templates
« on: August 31, 2015, 11:56:47 PM »
Being retired has advantages and boredom.  I decided that I was going to update my website and have done that. I have a few more things to get done, such as my weather stats, but that will be tomorrow as I update the data.   I had a lot of help and it took almost 3 days. I don't know script and it was asking a lot of questions and getting answers.

Any way,  two ways, http://www.desmoinesweather.org  or http://www.desmoinesweather.org/weather27/

It was fun and there will be upgrades.

Looking good!  \:D/ \:D/ =D> =D>

I've thought about doing the same thing but I want to get WD running first and then will tackle something new. I do like the looks of the Leuven layouts. Very clean and professional looking.

I originally had a site prior to the previous when they had the "vanity " sites with Mediacom, Qwest etc.  That was back in 1993.  Anyway,  Wim  will guide you through any changes.

Today I must do the climate data chart, cut down two weed trees, get the grand daughter from school and it is going to be a hot and humid day, but we have air conditioning  :)

That's a major improvement! Being you are only 2 hours away I get asked about DSM weather sites and I send them to yours. I use it to get DSM historical data as well.

I have on the climate section, http://www.desmoinesweather.org/RainGraphs/  section, under  "raw data files" , my monthly spread sheets and text data reports that are there in case anyone wants to work with the data .

Thank you.  I really appreciate your remarks and everyone's  as well.  Being retired, two years out,  gives me a lot of free time on my hands. But I had help with that site, a lot of it and I do appreciate every bit Wim did

I converted to Leuven Templates a month or so ago myself.

I am network hardware guy (routers, switches, ACLs, etc) NOT a web programmer, HTML or otherwise, and known enough to usually really screw things up.  Instructions that some provide may well make sense to those fluent in HTML/PHP, but my usual response is .

I was impressed with the initial installation instructions, combined with the fact that there were tests to make sure the right version of PHP was available from your hosting company, and that I could build the site, testing, tweaking, etc., while my current webpage remained unaffected.

Read the instructions, take your time and even the person without any HTML or PHP knowledge can implement these templates.

My results can be seen at:  www.sunset-weather.com
