Anemometer shows direction but not speed.
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:40:39 AM »
Hello everyone, new member here.

I`m looking for some help with a problem on my WS2000, label shows it dates from 01/23/01.

Several months ago the anemometer stopped displaying wind speed, only direction. I contacted the UK distributor where a very helpful chap called Mark sourced me a new sensor unit, however the problem remained the same so I was able to return the sensor.

Last evening I switched off the station and dismantled it, I connected another cat5 cable to see if this was at fault, same problem. This leads me to assume the problem is on the motherboard.

Any body else had this problem, or have any ideas ?

John.

If I understand correctly the compass rose functions but wind speed does not. I would try a reset first. If reset no help, would contact Richie at RainWise for help. The wind speed sensor uses reed switches and axle of unit has a magnet which causes reed switches to close. This is easily replaced.
