Another revamped home page!
« on: March 16, 2015, 04:58:40 PM »
Would like to say thanks to the three people who took the time to make a comment. Was hoping for at least a few more, good or bad, not necessarily rather or not the page was pleasing to the eye but at least how the page was rendering across different browsers and operating systems. What was I thinking...asking advice about a weather page on a weather forum.

Nothing to see here....

Looks good, One problem I have (maybe its just me) is web pages with black print on grey/blueish background, I can't read some combinations at all. I have to highlight pages with that combination to see the print. Even this forum has borderline combination of colors acceptable for my eyes in the darker shades of background color.

Great job Doug,  I like it quite a lot and I am now on a mobile and the menu is nicely responsive in a vertical orientation  😀

Cospringswx: it is just a matter of optimization,  I can have a look at yours too if you want.

I tried to follow the color scheme of the original,  I can see it easily but feel free to specify exactly which parts are problematic and I can  further adjust the css

Yup,  the plan is to apply the same js and css to the rest as well but we wanted to hear the opinions about it before redoing it all.  I also optimized not just the design and menu but also loading time so we would appreciate if you could also mention whether the page in the new version loads faster or else I will try further reduce the time

They both load lightning fast. http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/  88 and 90 percent faster than all the pingdom sites test.
My site scores a 70% still not bad.
http://www.meteopage.com/ got near perfit grade congratulations.  =D> 97/100

One thing I just tried, I turned on web cache on my server for 15 minutes. Grade went to 80% and page loaded in 1.8 seconds. I'll see what, if anything it does with images now.

Update: Images started caching immediately so had to turn back off.

Yours actually looks pretty ok except for some cam pictures, which slow it down the most and right now arent even loading at all.

What's not loading for you? Was it the front page images? Streams. I can't find anything not working.

Interesting. The only thing I can think of is image was in transaction of updating or ISP or maybe server Ipower was having issues at that time.  I can't replicate it even with Verizon phone.
