Around here, we always say "If you don't like the weather here, wait 10 minutes.  It'll change".

And change it will.  We've been mostly warm this fall.  60's still when upper 40's is average.  And tonight, blizzard warning.  We're hardly ever "average" anything in ND.  It seems like always one extreme or the other, and they average out.

Expecting 6+ inches of snow, before the rain here in Bismarck.  All of that while 50mph winds are going on.  And I just moved out of town where there's no trees.  This is going to suck.  But I expect my wind run numbers to be huge!  :-)

Currently you show 339 miles.
I'm at 59 miles.  Barely blowing the (dead) leaves off the trees.

Now he's showing 601 miles.  He'll be due for a lube, oil, and filter in no time.   ;)

When you look at the wind run figure it is kind of surprising the bearings in anemometers hold up as long as they do.  My old Heath Kit's bearings were getting pretty sloppy by the time I replaced it yet still fairly accurate in readings.  But after 15-20 years imagine the miles they had on them.  Not bad at all really for a simple little sleeve bearing out in the weather with no lube.

I closed at 722 miles yesterday.  I would say it was a blizzard.  They even flew in Mike Seidel from the Weather Channel early yesterday before the storm hit.  We had 9 inches.  He was surprised we don't close things down around here.  Intestates closed, but they were back open by 9:00 am this morning.   Wife even drove through 3 foot drifts in the truck to get to the Y for her morning workout.

Me, work was closed, I slept in.  :-)

I have them on my "history" page.  Month to date, plus archived.  I add in the wind run figure at the bottom of the NOAA report VWS puts out.  I just moved as of July this summer to my new house out in the country.   So you can compare "in town" vs. rural.  Huge difference.  My windiest months are usually spring.  And I've beaten those by double.
