For me, this only works in "Show unread posts since last visit" or "Show new replies to your posts", it doesn't work while viewing posts normally.
From the mod docs, those are the only two areas it does work in.. new replies and unread posts.  It doesn't install to provide the preview on just the plain forum listings...  Oh... and the preview is only for the first post in the thread, not for subsequent replies (as the mod is currently written), so it's really only useful for looking at new thread first posts without opening them.

Finally found the SMF Mod for the Google Member Map (on GitHub), so we now have the member map back (with all the data from the old map present).  I'll be doing some tweaking of the presentation over the next day or so...
