Adding Station Info
« on: August 11, 2013, 01:26:47 PM »
Hello,

Okay so I have used an HTML template to create http://www.svweather.com, and for the most part I like it.
I have the Davis Vantage Vue wireless with the data logger and Weather Link software. I am reporting data to Wunderground as well as NWS via CWOP/APRSWXNET and it all seems pretty good. The thing is I really don't like the "cheesy" looking page templates with the Weather link software, and would like to replace the wunderground sticker with "Gauges".
I do NOT know how to work with .PHP or AJAX or any of that stuff. What would really be nice is if I could just copy some code and place that where I want it in my HTML template, but I know that is only the easy way, and I don't think it exists, or, does it?

Anyone have any ideas?

Another thought was that I could use Cumulus just to send that data to my web site?
I would like to run Weather Link as is for reporting as all is set up and running great, and then maybe Cumulus for the web site?

Thanks for any input.

"D"

Hi D,

Check here. The Saratoga template is what a lot of folks use. I started with this template 4 years ago. Ken and everyone here are most helpful in getting your going.

I like your site it is different   If you must change it I would add this where the WU sticker is

If you have a newer model VUE there is probably no way to run WL and cumulus at the same time.

I would be more than happy to assist you in setting up Ken's template. I do not use Cumulus, though. Others can help with that.

Check this page, please: Saratoga installation. Ken has extensive instructions on how to.

If you are uncomfortable for now with the Saratoga templates then beginning with Cumulus is a good option as it will send your data to WU and the other places and the Cumulus standard templates are relatively easy to set up.

As mentioned above, lots of folks here to help you with either.

That would be exactly what I want to do. How do I do it?

My suggestion would be to download Cumulus, look at its options for uploading information to the places you want to, read either the read-me file or instructions that come with it and set it up according to that.

Thanks,

That's what I really want to do, what beaudog's snap shot is in place of the rapidfire

Hi Don,

Beaudog's pic is of my main page here: Saline Weather

It is a heavily modified/customized version of Ken's ajax-dashboard template.

WOW!
That is one AWESOME page!

I would love to put something like that snap shot for now in place of the wunderground widget I have.

Maybe down the road I can learn how to modify .PHP, but it would be awesome to have the Summary/Tempature widget.

Okay how about if I was to purchase the Virtual Weather Station from Ambient Weather?
I would imagine I could run that Together with the Weatherlink software, and the display is what I am looking for.

Just a thought?

Don,
No reason not to purchase Virtual Weather Station from Ambient Weather for a different look at your weather data. However, if you have a new, "Green Dot" weather station and datalogger, you will NOT be able to run any weather program at the same time as a second one. Before the "Green Dot" stations, you could use VirtualVP to run multiple programs at the same time.

Okay so I might have a solution. A program called Weather Display. Now all I have to do is get it to talk with my Vantage Vue.
