Post by: BadWolf72 on January 21, 2023, 12:20:21 PM
Hi people when i plug the 12V power into the WS90 my array battery voltage drops to 2.04V and i get a low battery warning is this normal? i have left the batteries in the array should i remove them if this is normal?

thank you

My understanding is, as mentioned by others, that once you plug in the heater, all of the power for the unit comes from that supply.
The battery and capacitor values then go "wacked" and are not to be used. Something the manufacturer is aware of. So in short, the battery, and cap values , become useless when plugged in.

I am recounting other's posts , and not my own experience. But you can find this all over the place in previous posts

thank you for replying rover1822 if its normal then its good and if ecowitt can do something to correct it through a firmware upgrade at some point that would be nice.... i was just worried i did something wrong but once again thank you.

The battery voltage reading when external powered is of no use, if no batteries installed with external power, the capacitor does charge normally with sunlight.
Would be better if the battery reading would show up as with normal battery operation, but I guess this is a hardware related issue and not easy solvable with a firmware upgrade.
I had still a 2.25 volt battery reading on the app without batteries installed!

I think the consoles still send out the battery values, even if , there is not a sensor sending data. I'm not sure on this, but there is a bit of sense on doing this. For instance if you have a sensor go off line because of a low battery situation, the battery status may hang around to give you that clue why, if it was a low battery situation.

Again, this is my conjecture. I do know that it hangs around on Ecowitt.net for like a week, even if you have removed the sensor.  I'm just making a guess that the console is still sending it. It could , of course just be the web site. I never did look at wsview to see what happens, I spend most of my time checking Ecowitt.net

maybe someone else knows
