I have a prototype rain gauge that I constructed of cardboard (for dry testing). It was the first physical model of my mental rain gauge ideas. After some modifications, I made a more accurate cardboard Prototype and covered it with liquid plastic. This was my wet version. I used an electronic water sensor to prove the idea may work. The rainfall catch area of the Gauge1301 is rectangular 1.75” x 5.375”.
Next month will be the Gauge1302 prototype, an 8” diameter catch area.
These have no moving parts, a microprocessor, a tipping bucket type output cable, and an XBee wireless link to a console.

Just now reading your post. Sounds very interesting. Hows the prototype testing coming along?
