Atlas reporting crazy high wind speeds
« on: March 24, 2024, 02:58:55 AM »
Over the past month, several times a week, my Atlas has been reporting wind speeds between 60 and 250 mph.Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to fix it? Has anyone else out there had this problem before?

First, check the batteries or replace them. You can also make sure the small plug that connects from the rain bucket trough to the main unit is fully secured and straight.

Replacing with new batteries did not help. The cable is tight and secure. The wind cups are seated securely on the base.

Unscrew the wind section from the main body. Turn it to the right and lift. Check the cables where they connect. Put back and try.

Already tried that. Could it be that the anemometer has gone bad?

Could be, but I bet it's the cable. It may not be making a good connection inside the unit on the board.

Look for the atlas tear down pics on this forum. They will show you the insides of the housing where all the cables connect to the board. I wouldn't say it's easy, but it isn't impossible if you like to take things apart. Nincehelser I believe was the poster, and he isn't with us any longer...
