Hey, I recently added as weatherflow tempest to my Tplink meteobridge running the latest firmware.
Everything is working as expected, except…. The reported pressure is usually 10-20hpa over what it should be on Wunderground.
The station altitude is set correctly in meteobridge and Wunderground, and the higher the station pressure the more the report values differ.
I’ve tried changing the altitudes etc without success.
Anyone know what’s going on, do I need to adjust the offset or factor formula?
I am not familiar with the Tempest but the weatherflow website says SLP but which one? Altimeter or METAR SLP?. If the Tempest incorporates temperature and elevation in its barometric calculations then you want to match the METAR SLP. Otherwise you want to match Altimeter.
From what I am reading, the Tempest barometer is supposed to be self-calibrating providing your elevation is correct.. Info seems to be skimpy on this subject on the weatherflow site.
According to your location, your elevation should be around 1057 m which means the offset is over 120 hPa...meaning your Altimeter setting will always be about 120 hPa higher than your current live station pressure reading.
You probably want to compare with the METAR for Calgary CYYC here:
https://aviationweather.gov/metar/data?ids=CYYC&format=decoded&date=&hours=1If you are still way out check out the weatherflow forum or open a support ticket with weatherflow.
Maybe some other weatherflow owners on this forum can chime in.
Hope that helps a bit.
PS. I wrote a beginner's guide for calibrating barometers. It is not meant for the Tempest models but the same general prinicples apply.
