Mt Washington

(1/1)

ocala:
Will be visiting my brother in Vermont for some Fall fishing this year. While there I told him I wanted to visit Mt Washington next door in New Hampshire. He said that during the fall the weather can be bad with fronts etc and the view from the top might not be too good. I told him I don't want to go there for the view. I'll get a good view from my airplane window.  I want to see some wild weather. Told him I want to see 60/70 mph winds with blizzard conditions, horizontal snow and or rain. Just good ole nasty weather.  He looked at me like I was crazy. I said listen I'm a weather geek. This is the stuff I live for. When we get thunderstorms and tropical weather in Florida I am on the front porch enjoying it. Not inside looking out. Soo we are trying for sometime in early Fall because they do shut the observatory down if the weather is too bad. Just hoping it's right on the edge and I get to see some nice weather.  :-)

Jasiu:
Once the snow starts flying you won't be able to get there unless you hike (don't do that) or are able to hitch a ride on a snow cat (I'm not sure if they are doing the day trips or overnights anymore during the winter - check their web site).

Probably the best you will do is windy and cold.

When does the Cog stop running?

Jasiu:
Info here. Roughly Columbus Day if you want to go all the way to the top.
