WifiLogger: still best option for station to internet?
« on: January 17, 2022, 01:38:45 PM »
OK, here is the situation. I have a condo in Punta Mita Mexico. I have been bugging the HOA Board to let me put a weather station on top of one of the buildings. I finally have approval.  I plan to buy a Vantage Pro 2. The end-goal is to get the data to the Weather Underground. I have looked into this before and WifiLogger seemed like the best choice when I last looked about a year ago. The sensor head location will have line of sight to the office building. So my plan is to put the console in the office. The office has wifi so I just need to get the data from the console to WU.

I am posting to check if other options have come along like maybe Davis has something similar built into their consoles now?

I know they have Weather Link live but that requires a subscription which I would like to avoid. Thanks for any opinions.

Not aware of any Davis products that connect to other weather networks without a subscription. WFL is the only option that is totally self contained within the Davis Console that doesn’t require a subscription except the Meteobridge Nano and Nano SD which are considerably more expensive though the Nano SD has the ability to store history on an onboard micro SD card. The WFL2 also has provisions for an onboard micro SD card but Boris has not enabled it’s use yet so don’t know if that is in his future plans.
As you can see I have one of each of the WFL, WFL2 and Nano SD and they all work fine.

I have my station up and running. Just wanted to close the loop and thank folks here for answering my questions. I had additional direct help by email from wifilogger.
The station data is here https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IVALLE160
