My New Weather Website
Central Maine Weather:
Hi all,
Shortly after moving a few years ago, my website provider at the time (webs.com) sold their business and I lost my website. I started putting together a site on wix.com, but as is the case with many things from time to time, I just got too busy with other things in life to get the new Wix site up and running.
Well I finally had some good opportunities over the past few days to get it running and get it looking close to what I've been envisioning. There still work to be done, but I'm happy with where it's at so far!
Here's the link...

Hope everyone likes it! Now for me to decide if I want to stick with the Free wix web-plan, or if I want to dish out some money to get into a premium plan. Pro's of a paid premium plan are
- custom domain name
- no Wix branding or ads displayed on page
- more storage and bandwidth
- more customer support
- and other small things
What do you all think? I love the professional look of having a custom domain name and no Wix branding on the webpage, but am not sure if i want to dish out the money each year to continue a premium subscription. I've been back and forth about it for the past few days now.
Of course I could always try out a premium plan for a year and just not renew my subscription if I don't see the need after a year. Hmmmm...

I think your site looks good. And the "FREE" part makes it even better! :)
If the paid pricing that you are considering is any of the plans shown on the Pricing page here: https://www.wix.com/plans
... I don't see how removing the Wix banner could be worth the money they want. Save the hosting money and spend it on something of greater value.

Thanks! And I have to agree with you as that is what I'm leaning towards currently. Pretty expensive yearly renewal cost compared to others I've seen, with less benefits. The "FREE" part definitely is nice!

Great looking site. I like the layout and everything about it.
A live webcam would be nice from your location.
Also maybe a link to the current weather on Mt Washington as it has the most intense weather in the lower 48.
Also a custom radar view would be better then the NWS radar but I'm a radar junkie so that's one of the first things I look for. But I'm splitting hairs. You did a really good job. [tup]

Thanks for the kind words/compliments!
I have my two webcams currently uploading images every 2-5 minutes on my Homepage, but am looking into getting one of them live streaming either directly to my website, or through a YouTube live stream which I would then embed on my site.
And a link to the current conditions on Mt. Washington is a great idea. I spend a good amount of time each year hiking in that area as it's only about an hour's drive from me. I'll see about adding some live data from the summit or as you mention even just a link to the current summit conditions.
Also a great idea on upgrading the radar image I currently have displayed for one that is custom and shows my location directly on the map. We'll see how far I make it with that, but it's worth trying out. Any recommendations on how/where I can do such a thing using HTML code. I know this is possible through PHP scripting. I'll start doing some research.
Thanks again! :-)
