It looks like Wunderground no longer has personal weather station history anymore, only current conditions. Clicking history tab just directs to the nearest Airport weather history.

You are clicking on the wrong place. I still see all my history.

You are looking at a location forecast which ties to the nearest airport. To get station history you need to be on the station's dashboard and then scroll down and select charts or graphs for the period of interest.

I can see all  my history going back several years.
But how do I download it to put the data in my current database?

Gary,
I assume you want your WU history imported into your Meteobridge PRO database? Right?

If so perhaps others have a better way. But this is how I would do it.

- Use WeeWX to import all your WU historical data. WeeWX has a built in utility in the bin folder called wee_import. This utility is capable of importing your WU historical data using your WU API key. You need to set up the API key in WU within your account settings to then provide this API key along with your WU ID to do the import.
https://github.com/weewx/weewx/blob/master/bin/wee_import

- Then once WeeWX has your WU historical data you can then use the WeeWX database and use it to import into your Meteobridge as it has the ability to import from WeeWX.

I have not done this. But it looks to me like this should be possible. I don't know what precautions may be necessary since I've not attempted it.

You don't even need to connect WeeWX to your station. You will just be using WeeWX to import data from WU. Although since you have a WLL you could start using WeeWX along with your Meteobridge.

I was thinking of downloading to maybe a comma delimited text file and then pulling it in to Microsoft Access to play with it.
I could then export it any way I would like.

When I retired some 20 years ago I was burned out from IT and programming.
So I rather wanted to start relearning and updating some of my old skills.

I downloaded the latest Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 and was delighted to find it was FREE!
I've started having fun muddling through a C# book.

Can you recommend a good book on Microsoft PowerShell? It's been a long time since I've done any scripting.

I don't, but I've always been a fan of the O'Reilly books. Can't go wrong with one of those.

Well, it appears one can write/use a script to download his data from WU.
I need to get up to speed on how to do that.

Since you recommend it, I probably need to take a look at weewx.

As I said, it's been a long time and a lot has changed since I dropped out.
For the past 20 years I've only used my computer for the stock market, photography and social media.
I swore I'd never write another line of code.  8-)

I wonder just how many years it is stored.

All my current data has already been going to Meteobridge but several years back I first did WU with the LaCrosse station, then a fair hiatus until more recently setting up the Davis and 3verything.

Maybe I could get that old data too?????

I just scrolled down to History in WU and started working backwards.
I discovered that my first entry was Jan 28, 2016.

I had purchased an old Ambient Weather station from Amazon for $129.
And now I remember putting that old WS up on a pole that cold winter day.
And following the step-by-step instructions to see my weather data on WU.

I thought that WU was just a part of the WS and didn't bother to learn anything more.
All I ever did was look at WU on my computer and on my phone.
Since I can now see all my data going back to then, I want to retrieve it.

I seem to remember that there was a menu option back then to download one's data.
Was that true, George?

I'll have to take a look. I think it was like 2010 I put the first one up. It moved to another location I just recently deleted, model flying field where it was for about two years.

Then about a year ago I guess I put up the Davis after a year or so of nothing due to wind cup broken.

The local conservation authority browses the PWS info. I should drop them a line again let them know how much knowledge and support we have to improve data quality. I never really learned anything beyond getting it on WU also when first set up.

Wow. Just looking at graphs back to Jan. 1, 2009 on WU.

Yes, that simple .csv download feature button disappeared a couple of year ago. Then there was a period of time when there was no download at all possible. People were mad as heck. Then they introduced the new API key and this is the new way.

Do they explain anywhere how to use this "new way"?

Yes, Weather Underground API documentation:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eKCnKXI9xnoMGRRzOL1xPCBihNV2rOet08qpE_gArAY/edit

But this seems simpler:
WU -->> WeeWX (wee_import) -->> Meteobridge

From everything I can surmise, I've wasted the morning trying to understand the WU API. I've been able to figure out how to download exactly one day's worth of data in something called JSON format and would have to figure out what to do with it. And even then its going to be compressed in a UNIX GZIP file that I've never heard of until now. I would have to figure out how to build a script to increment from a start day to an end day. This is all giving my 80 year old brain a headache that I've decided I don't need to have. All to get data from year's past that I really have little interest in other than I generated it and its mine and it might be fun to build some charts and graphs. And that's only if I can figure out how to get it into the Microsoft Access database which I knew how to use 25 years ago.

I'm totally discouraged. Two years ago I could have simply downloaded my data with a menu option. Why did the IBM boys have to ruin a good thing?

If you are also uploading to AWEKAS they have a data import/export pick under "My AWEKAS".  It allows saving to an excel format.
