Topic: June Solstice (Moods of the sky behind our weather instruments.)

Dear WXForum observers of the seasons turning,

On the WeatherCat forum, I started a tradition of posting photos of interesting weather behind my weather instruments.  Such photos are particularly timely as markers of the seasons turning. 

For most of the world, tomorrow marks the June Solstice.  This website has the exact time for your locale:

It is the start of summer in the northern hemisphere and the start of winter in the southern hemisphere.

California is known for its "June Gloom."  I took this photo a while ago showing the sun peeking through the fog:

Sunrise behind my VP2.

That's neat, thanks.  I was up in the middle of the night and my Sun/Moon Almanac caught a Sun image with an X-Class flare, on the right hand side of the image which i think is also very neat.

I especially liked the sunrise behind the Vantage Pro-2.  It kind of ties into the Sun image with a flare.  In this case the shield to protect the camera from the intense solar radiation is none other than the VP2 itself!
