First day of spring today and. snow! In all seriousness, snowed all morning as if it were December. The weather is completely mad – a week ago it was almost 15°C! I'm starting to think that we're going to have summer in March and winter in July.

But, then again, perhaps nature is just messing with us, and next week it will be warm again. How's the weather where you live? :)

This satellite image shows smoke drifting down today into the Upper Midwest from large wildfires in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  An air quality alert has been issued for Minnesota extending through the weekend into Monday evening.

Some statistics to ponder. (Re: Spring/Summer 2025)

Dear WXForum netizens,

The Macintosh weather program WeatherCat has a nifty feature that captures some broad statistics of the current climate compared to the station's history.  I thought I would share a link to those accumulated statistics for the community to ponder:

All of Oklahoma is DROUGHT FREE for the 1st time in 6 years!  The last time Oklahoma was totally drought free: July 23,2019.  June is shaping up to be wet.  The northern half of Oklahoma is in a flood watch until late Friday morning.

I just want everyone to know that it is summer time.
June 14

and I am wearing sweat pants

The heat has evaded us so far. Good and bad for that.

Time changes things.  You're now warmer than I am by several degrees.

Spring in central Kentucky was wild.  Multiple tornado outbreaks, record flooding, a little snow at the beginning, finished hot.  Fourth wettest spring on record out of 152 years.

As we head into summer now we've got Head Advisory products out and I just pray that we don't go into drought.  As long as we can stay out of drought I'll be a happy man.  Last summer we got into the Extreme Drought category on the U.S. Drought Monitor and it sucked.

Another fascinating day of how the summer weather works in Oklahoma.  A storm formed in western Payne County and just kept circulating in one place. In the Blackwell Lake area, it resulted in rainfall of up to at least 2.74" of rain in about an hour. But central and eastern Stillwater from being in the far eastern fringes to the storm only got around .25" or less, according to wunderground station amounts.  The situation was similar to several other places in the state.

Models are showing a return to a stormy pattern across central Oklahoma starting early next week. Not on the same level as the previous few weeks but there will be again some MCS type storms moving in from the north from Colorado and Kansas along with some typical summer pop-up storms with the high heat and humidity. Temps look to be normal for this time of year.  Thankfully, no death ridge or heat dome in sight yet.  But it's still early summer. After one of the wettest springs, lawn grass still grows FAST!

This is currently Tulsa’s 3rd wettest start to a year in history, behind only 2008 and 1973. Currently for 2025 there is  32.79” at the airport.

Been dry so far, relatively speaking in my back yard. However there is a possible tropical wave that may develop in the the NE Gulf which could affect me. We shall see.

A gentle rainstorm in Stillwater as of 1:45 AM, 6/30/25. Rainfall amount probably won't be much over .50-1.00", but well exceeding NWS estimates that new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Maybe the rain storm will stay gentle as the line moves to Oklahoma City.

Yet more storms coming from out of Kansas and Nebraska may be forthcoming later this morning if they don't dissipate. The plains states are where storms are most concentrated in the country tonight.

I got 7.33" of rain for June.  The normal average for Stillwater is 4.32".  It will be interesting to see if the wet weather trend continues going into July, since considerably less rainfall is required.  The normal average for that month is only 2.69".

Waiting for some much needed rain, too bad it might be coming on the holiday.

My micro climate has only had around 2" of rain from June thru now. Up north of us in Wisconsin and down in central Illinois and Indiana have been getting pounded with rain.

Around the Chicago area we have "slight" drought conditions.
