Help Please - PWSWeather using WS View
« on: November 25, 2020, 09:56:28 AM »
Hi there, Help please.

I have a Sainlogic WS3500 with WS View Software. I have succesfully connected to Wunderground & Ecowitt. Data is being sent & can be viewd online.

I would like to connect to PWSWeather....However PWSWeather says "Not Sending Data "

I enclose screenshots.........and must be doing something wrong........

a)  What data goes in Path: Field ? using WS View
b)  Does rest of inputs look Ok ?
c)   WS View software is a little clunky......can anyone recomend an alternative ?

Cordially & Thanks for your help

Many thanks for taking time to help so promptly.

I appreciate problem solving can be like explaining someone how to tie a tie over the phone.

I used my new friend........and followed details...........

Pws still says " Not Sending data " & "Inactive".........

In WS View - Password field is no longer there..........after entering my Wunderground Station ID ( INEWAR40 ) I entered my Wunderground Key ( AW***JmX )

I also viewd some other postings.... I entered the "?" as the last character in path field.

Does the "?" need to be entered ?

Any ideas.........I have shown the PWS ID page just incase that is wrong.....

Yes path requires the ? at the end.

Remove your WU URL from PWSweather account settings. That isn't what that field is for. Just leave that empty since you likely have no personal website. This doesn't fix nor break anything. It's just a matter of using things for the purpose that they were designed.

In WS View Customized setting you enter in your PWSweather password into they station key field. Soon you may be required to enter in a key instead of a password as PWSweather is redesigning their upload API.

Galfert

Thanks again for taking time to help..........

No Joy..........still reading "Inactive"

I have checked for typos etc...all seems OK.

I am a novice and do appreciate your help......

I notice on PWS there are details of an API Key at bottom of page...........( screenshot attached )

I am not sure if that is relevant ?

Wishing you a safe & happy Thanksgiving........and compliments of the season.......

Maybe all new PWSweather accounts now require the key to be used instead of the account password. I'm still using the account password...but maybe I'm grandfathered. Try using that into the key field in WS View. Make sure you copy the whole key because it is really long (it is longer than what you see, unless you scroll, 32 characters!). Pull up the PWSweather account page with the key with your mobile device so that you can benefit from using the copy button instead of having to manually type in that long key. Then you can easily paste it into WS View. Another method to bring the key over from your computer to the phone is to use a password manager like LastPass (Save the credentials on the computer into LastPass and then pull them up on the phone with the LastPass app and copy/paste into WS View).

Copy button on PWSweather page next to the key:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
(Showing the above key is not a security concern because the entire key is not shown in the image.)

If it doesn't work then give it some time and try again in a few hours or tomorrow. It may take some time for your new PWSweather account to become ready to receive data.

Hi!

Quote
Using Hostname : PWSWEATHER.COM and NOT WWW.PWSWEATHER worked.........
WWW or not WWW, that shouldn't be the question ...

I feed PWSWeather (via FOSHKplugin) with this URL:
http://www.pwsweather.com/pwsupdate/pwsupdate.php?ID=[PWS-ID]&PASSWORD=[PWS-Password]&

(the square brackets must not be included)

So, for WS View it should be:

Server IP / Hostname: www.pwsweather.com
Path:                          /pwsupdate/pwsupdate.php?
Station ID:                  PWS-ID
Station Key:                PWS-Password
Port:                           80
