Pro Weather Station 00634
« on: November 13, 2019, 12:19:40 PM »
Well, I wasn't getting many hits with my Lacrosse Technology question, and there seemed to be a number of WIFI issues reported in the reviews.  So, I'm looking at Acurite.  I can't help but feel that if I get interested in doing more, I'll want something more like a Davis station.

But, I found that Acurite has a fairly simple weather station 00634.  The base is LCD and doesn't require power.  This makes the unit portable which is desirable for me.  When I searched this site I didn't get any hits for this weather station.  Presumably that's because either (a) the station doesn't give the type of data most want here or (b) the unit is just a cheap disposable piece of junk that Acurite produces to compete in the market.  Hopefully the answer is not (b)!

That's a 3n1.  It doesn't do wind direction or rainfall.

Nincehelser beat me to it, but I agree with his assessment as to why there isn't much interest here. The lack of a wind vane is the first thing I noticed.

Thanks, I do realize that. If I start wanting those other features, I'll want to pay for a good one.

The size of the 3 in 1 isn't really any smaller than a 5n1. I would get the 5 in 1. The temperature will be a lot more accurate, and you will have a rain gauge.

If I go this route, I'll probably consider a Davis. for one thing, I actually like the display on the Davis unit.   But, this will take some saving up.

 Heresy I tell you! How dare you like a display that's not in the full spectrum of visible light and only provides nothing more than pertinent, easy to decipher info!

You'll never work in this town again!
