New Website Template - JesseLikesWeather
« on: April 10, 2025, 03:45:06 PM »
For the majority of this project, I used a software called Cursor, which helped me build this entire project, so you should check it out too  :grin:

Anyway, this is still a work in progress, but I created a weather template of my own! Check it out at https://jessewx2011.github.io/Milton-Weather-Page/, or simply click here.

It's a work in progress, you may need to reload it a couple of times, this is a big issue for coding for me, having to hope that everything is in the right order. Thanks for letting me know.

I've been playing around with Cursor also. Building an app for my weather station and building a new website.
It's got a lot of plusses, but a few minuses too.

Still doesn't work for me. No data is displayed, and a "loading" message is in the screen.

Took a lot of figuring out what to tell Cursor and what not to say. I've learned to mark it good to go before building on it. I have spent hours sometimes fixing one error which creates more 😂

Funny, I used Cursor to build my app!

Anyway, I added a couple new pages, including a NOAA Weather Radio page & A weather events log page.

I dearly apologize for it not working, it might be that there are too many requests coming in for the API to handle, I know, not cool at all. ](*,)

Nope, the requests your site is making to get the data are erroring with a 404 - no such page error.

Did you get this from the browser console?

Interesting, I like others get no data but I guess you're working on that  ;)

I might take a look at Cursor but I've yet to find any of these programs for creating website which code efficiently with minimum extraneous stuff, I've been coding in HTML and a forerunner of it for probably 40 or more years now so I'm a tad stuck in my ways  :-(

I'm trying everything to make it work properly, updated error handling, also updated the amount of retries, if it says "Loading" for at least 30 seconds, consider reloading it a couple of times or open the web page in a new tab. Sorry for making this so inconvenient, it's working just fine for me :-(

All the data fields are blank for me?

The scripts seem to work in the US only. They use the location of the website visitor
For my location https://api.weather.gov/points/50.8865,4.6999  returns

    "correlationId": "44185e2",
    "title": "Data Unavailable For Requested Point",
    "type": "https://api.weather.gov/problems/InvalidPoint",
    "status": 404,
    "detail": "Unable to provide data for requested point 50.8865,4.6999",
    "instance": "https://api.weather.gov/requests/44185e2"
}

I found it quite a pain to try and get the 30 second clientraw updates. I'm building an Android app and not a website (yet) and have settled in using my Weather Display testtags updating ever 5 minutes and that's working well. So far........

So the script should define the position of Milton, Fl, for API access?

Sorry, should have been more clear. Trying to get 30 second updates working on an Android app has been difficult.

I've used the 30 second Ajax updates on my website ever since the first templates were developed back in the original Carter Lake template days.

Well, this turned out to be quite a conversation not only between my template, but CNYWeather’s template, didn’t except a turn there ;)
