Sadly, you would not be the first. I have 2 WS90s (haptic) , I far prefer my WH40s (spoon) .
You can go blind in here reading reviews of the haptic sensor accuracy , and how to calibrate, and see many different reviews and opinions. Although the negative ones seem to be more prevalent. And I agree with them as I have my 2 units, which I have given up trying to calibrate. I simply don't use their rain data
Also, shortly after the WS90 was released, Ecowitt updated the firmware on most gateways so you could choose to use something like the WH40 as your primary reporting rain sensor, or the WS90. This is a rare event, as you can actually compare live with 2 rain sensors. So , one has to ponder, why would they do that?, could it be haptic sensor is not ready for prime time, or maybe to be able to calibrate with WH40. Most who have calibrated using the confusing for end user 5 point system, are probably simply using the WH40.
I understand I am using WS90s , the WS85 was introduced later (less functionality) , but has , essentially the same issues with rain.
