Davis Instruments Weather Stations / Re: Joining Davis Tech Support

Scaled Instruments likely sets his prices based on the price he pays Davis. So the price to us consumers  is really determined by the price Davis sells its product to Scaled Instruments—so, blame Davis not Scaled.

I am sure that this is a correct reading of the situation. Trade pricing will be at a fixed discount to Davis RRP.

Just to give you one example of price increases: In 2019, a 6410 anemometer Davis RRP was $155 (itself an increase on 2018). In 2024 that same part costs $235 RRP. That's over 50% increase in 5 years. And the anemometer is fairly typical.

Inflation (CPI) in the US from August 2019 (when Davis was acquired by AEM) to March 2024 was a total of 21.7%. Specifically, the CPI level in August 2019 3as 256.6 and was 312.3 in March 2024. Davis’ pricing is clearly above that level.

Weather Website PHP/AJAX scripting / Re: MBtag rain0total-count
« Last post by hymrog on Today at 09:51:35 AM »
Had time to look at this a little further.  It looks like the rain0total-count template thinks it is actually rain being recorded when in fact it should be the count of rain days for the month.

If you set the Settings.php file to
Code: [Select]
$SITE['uomRain'] = 'mm' the correct day count is returned in the MBtags.php.

Just curious if anyone knows what file has the rain conversion.  I am think a function could be written to look for the count/mcount/ycount/acount that would give the correct information for that particular template.

My Ambient Weather WS-2902 WiFi Smart Weather Station's console i connected first time by connecting through wifi without typing password. Again i want to connect it asks password, whereas I did not enter any password. It was open. Without connecting console I am not able to make any changes like making new WIFI source. Please help me to solve this problem. I reset to factory set up using this link https://ambientweather.com/faqs/question/view/id/1596/. Still it demands password. Thanks

How old is your WH32-EP ?
Mine showed the same phenomenon - the LCD panel stopped displaying after 2+ years (it looked as if water had entered which was of course not the case), but the readings were not impacted.
Ecowitt sent me a replacement display (very easy to replace) on request along with my next order.

Interesting. My wh32ep is 2 1/2 years old. I'll reach out to Ecowitt about a new screen. Thanks

Super thanks to @Gyvate and @hkeller2 for your suggestions. I did finally receive response from a person at Ambient who offers an opinion that the power adapter for the console might be bad and is offering to replace it. If that works, we should be back in business. If not, and the console remains dead, then your suggestion of the Weather Hub gateway module looks like a good alternative solution.

Will certainly keep that in mind. Hopefully, the power adapter replacement will do the trick.

Either way, I will provide updates as this effort progresses. I always like to see people share solutions on message boards, enabling all of us to learn together.

Thanks again. Cheers.

I think the Ambient Weather Hub/ObserverIP 2.0 module (~78 USD) would be the smartest solution if you want to keep that Weather Window. The Weather Hub can receive all existing Ambient sensors (which are Ecowitt clones - there are others too) including the WS80, the Ambient WS-5000 ARRAY (ultrasonic 6-in-1 outdoor array), the WH40, the Ambient WS-5000-RAIN sensor.
This Weather Hub is a gateway, a displayless console, even more powerful than the WS-5000 console.
If configured, it will post the data to ambientweather.net. The live data can be viewed with its inbuilt WebUI (http://IP-address-of-the-Hub) and most likely (to be verified as this constellation is rare) with the Ecowitt WS View Plus app (ANdroid and iOS).
Once your sensor data is on AWN, your Weather Window will be able to receive and display them.

The late product architect of Uniden Scanners, the SDS100 and SDS200 for those of you into scanning and have seen the Radio Reference forums, I am referring to Uniden UP Man, Paul Optiz, who provided tech support to the forum community and there was no conflict of interest.

Spektrum RC radio software engineer on forums also. Posts on a few of them. Reveals and assists with what is allowed and keeps secret what is required.

To change the logging contents does require modifying code in both nws-alerts.php and nws-alerts-log.php to support having the details included, and it wouldn't likely be backward compatible to existing log files.
I've not heard about such a request before, and as Curly's code is quite complicated, I'd need to hear from others about the mod before embarking on doing the mod.

I'm sorry to inform you that the Weather Window is not a replacement for your WS5000 console.  It can only display data that has already been published to AWN.

From page 4 of the manual:
"NOTE: If you already have an Ambient Weather station, do not discard the console that it came with. All Ambient hardware requires either a console or a Weather Hub to send sensor data to the cloud. Your Weather Window is a display and does not replace the functionality of a console or Weather Hub."

Put another way, the Window is for displaying weather data only that is already in the cloud, not for receiving it from your sensor array or publishing it to AWN.

You do have a few ways you could go:
  • Ask Ambient for a refund and get a the same console you already had.
  • eBay has a few used ones at times
  • Or try the Ambient Weather Network Weather Hub for $78.

I think other's might chime in with other ideas for you as well.

Thanks a bunch. Will unzip and see what I can do this evening.
Just got out of dentist office.  The visit there has been easier than fixing this computer crash outfall.  ](*,)
