Bigger radar zones?
« on: July 31, 2020, 10:23:31 PM »
I use RadarScope, probably like many of you. And I've noticed something that I think has changed.

I used to be that the zone of the radar was within a specific diameter and a circle around the region the radar covers would indicate where the coverage stopped.

But I'm noticing now that the coverage of the radar goes beyond the 'circle' and I'm wondering when that changed? Maybe it's just the ones around North Carolina that do this, or maybe it's everywhere.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Did they just decrease the size of the 'circle' or have they actually expanded the coverage of these local radars beyond what they were, say, a year or two ago?

Yeah I noticed that too. Radar Omega also shows this while Wx still shows it confined closer to the radar site.
