I have three consoles running and never look at the icons. I should check it out and compare them.

I have three also and have never paid attention to the icon. I'm curious now too and will watch mine the next few days.

Doug

Hi my hight is 183 ft and with that I get the correct pressure readings when checking with the met Office, but forecast is always totally wrong,..so I've had a thought, if I change the hight  ie lower it until I get a correct forecast, and then recalibrate the pressure would this help....as its been said here, it would never be as accurate as met Office, but as it is its been totally wrong moor or less every dad since I brought it 2 months ago....any thoughts please....paul

Are you sure you have the lat/long correctly set? Changing the pressure calibration is unlikely to make any difference.

Well, I'll be blunt. We've given you our thoughts, very educated ones as well, but you choose not to listen. I suggest you buy something else and see how that works for ya.

Y'all have peaked my interest.

I have three consoles running and never look at the icons. I should check it out and compare them.

All three consoles which have been running many days show the same icons. It pretty much matches the public data.

Will have to keep an eye out for changes.

I have been following this thread, and this is a serious request for you:  When you try a different PWS, please let us know how the quality of forecasts compare with the Davis system.  Particularly, when you find something that does a better job.

I'm not understanding the issue here.

If you want a weather forecast, then use the Met Office (app on phone, website etc.).
If you want local weather observations, then use a weather station in your garden.

You're simply using the wrong tool for the job if you're expecting your weather station to give you a forecast with any kind of skill. I expect you could do better just looking out the window. A skilful forecast needs LOTS of observations, surface obs from a wide area (hundreds of miles), satellite obs, radar, radiosondes, and sophisticated data assimilation and modelling.

Hi yes I don't disagree with anyone on this thread I agree that a home weather station will never be as accurate as say the met Office ect,all im saying is surely the icons should change a bit more often than they do as the pressher changes, even if they don't give the correct forecast...paul

Hi all, just a quick question, when entering cordance into the concil, what is the best to enter, ie part of my location is lat 51.43345 or 51.260.43116 n, just wondering because my sun rise is 2 minutes fast....paul

If what you typed there is 51 degrees, 26.0 minutes, 43.116 seconds........then that equates to 51.4458333.

So it is decimal degrees in console isn't it?

With only two decimal places your location only has a precision of about 1.11 km (this is average as longitude lines converge). Using between 4 or 6 decimal places is customary.

decimal
placesdegreesdistance
01.0111 km
10.111.1 km
20.011.11 km
30.001111 m
40.000111.1 m
50.000011.11 m
60.0000010.111 m
70.00000011.11 cm
80.000000011.11 mm

* these are equatorial calculations.

For the purposes of the console that is sufficient. But if you connect up any other software or upload to any online services then you should try and add more precision to those settings.
