Tsunami Warning - Western California Coast
(1/1)
JesseLikesWeather:
A Magnitude 7.3 Earthquake occurred 80 miles off the west pacific coast, and this has prompted a Tsunami wave for the Northern/Central California coast, and the southwestern Oregon Coast.
JesseLikesWeather:
It's been cancelled now, only small waves were recorded.
saratogaWX:
It was quite a surprise.. first the SMS alert message, then the EMS messages on TV.
Even so, we're well inland of the southern SF Bay at 384ft, so damage here is VERY unlikely :)
The quake apparently had little vertical motion (was mostly strike-slip horizontal) so no tsunami was seen at closest shoreline so the overall alerts were cancelled.
