Its done totally via the WS-View app on your phone/tablet.
When you connect to the GW1000 it will immediately tell you if a update is available and offer to download and install.
Once done the display in the app will show you what the firmware version is.

GW1000 firmware 1.5.7 released:

I do not get a firmware update button for this version nor can I find it online.  Is 1.5.7 only for beta testers?

You must be on your home network to do this.
If you open up WSView and in Menu select 'Device List'
Select your GW1000
You will now see your live data displayed with all the available sensor data displayed.
At the very bottom it will show the version of Firmware you are running on your GW1000
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Normally when you select your GW1000 in the device list you will be presented with a screen to update the firmware if one is available for your device.
If there are non available it will go straight to displaying your live sensor data.

I do that, but Mine says GW1000B_V1.5.6. perhaps the GW1000B version 1.5.7 has not been released yet or looks for the precense of another sensor which I may not have.

In the WS View app did you try going to More then Device Settings?
You should then get the pop-up to upgrade the firmware.

Yes, but my bottom button is reset to factory settings and at the top under "system" it says GW1000B-WIFI572C.  I have no option to update.

I'm just surprised because I have gone through many firmware updates without a problem.  This is the first version it has not asked me to update so I am still on V_1.5.6

The software (the WSView app) essentially dials home to Ecowitt and does the check so perhaps there is something specific about your GW1000
One probably stupid question.....the device you are running WSview on it does have Internet access?
Second question, your internet access is not filtered or restricted in any way?

In these sort of cases and assuming the above questions on Internet are non events then I would write an e-mail to Lucy at Ecowitt (Support@ecowitt.com) and provide the GW1000 MAC and ask if they know why this might be the case. They can then check server side to see why their systems are not telling the WSView app to download/update.

Good questions.  Thank you Mandrake!

I run two networks in my home which lets me vary the security level for devices, more for cameras, smart home functions amd business related computer activities and the less secured network for standard home browsing and email.  Apparently within the last two weeks my internet provider activated advanced security on their home router which interfered with my GW1000 being able to update.

Once I found the setting for the new security, I was able to briefly disable it to allow my firmware update to happen.  Let this serve as a reminder to me and others that sometimes it not the device, it someone else in the communication chain.

Thanks to everyone who has walked me through this misadventure!  Your patience was and is appreciated!

I use GW1000 to receive data from my Ambient/Fine Offset sensor (WS-1002-Wifi) and push it to a local computer running Weather Display. This is in addition to the standard Ambient console. I dont know if it is specific to the most recent firmware update, but I am now noticing a non-linear outdoor temperature offset between what the Ambient console says and what the WS view says reading directly from the GW1000. It's around 1ºF near freezing, and less at higher temperatures.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Every console is calibrated separately. Make the adjustments necessary on each. The GW1000 adjustments are done with the WS View app.

I understand that, but that is just a temperature offset. Not an offset and a slope. Curious why the same data coming off the sensor array would have a different non-linear calibration.

It is possible, that the display/console from ambient includes a factor for the received data before display. The calibration of the display as the units were part and parcel from Ambient, may be set up that way.

The GW1000 is going to read the raw , or whatever is sent out by the sensors.

Hi!

Does anyone know what the WN34 is, which is now supported with the new firmware v1.5.9 for the GW1000 with 8 devices?

I suspect its the new Soil Temp sensor.
Hard to tell as the app does not give any clues yet only the mention in the firmware.
I'll post if I get an answer

The new firmware is ready for new soil and water temperature sensors
it's possible to add n.8 sensors, in any kind of scenario

the new sensor images

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

the new sensors will have IP67 protection, so for external uses

As you can see, the new water and soil temperature sensor will not use a combined sensor like Sensirion but a simple thermistor, in next hours I think will be able to add a datasheet of the sensor used

we need to wait for a price list, I will update this post until it will be available

Hi!

Do you know the key-names in Ecowitt-protocol? Will it send its data as soiltempX and soilmoistureX?

Will they work additionally to 8 WH51 or do they use the same channels?

Hi Oliver,
I will have more information at the start of the new week, but surely not, in case:
soil temp
water temp

Water temp sensor?! That will be very useful for me as I have a large Koi pond and keeping an eye on the water temp is quite important.
