Wifilogger2 heating indoor Temp
« on: September 15, 2021, 10:30:52 AM »
Hi.

Is there such a thing as an extension for the Wifilogger2 to move it away from the Davis console as it heats the indoor temperature?

Thanks.

Hi,
Not an extension, but a replacement Meteo-Pi Ethernet logger  Meteo-pi Ethernet - the finest data logger (wifilogger.net)

Enjoy,
Paul

If you are still using weatherlink software you can always do an offset. You may even be able to do it through the console.

Because each console’s sensor reading is different, I believe the best way to set the correct offset for a particular console is to place an accurate thermometer next to your console and see what it reads. Then set your console offset for the difference between the external thermometer reading and your console’s temperature reading. That’s the only way I know to be sure it’s correct.
You can also help mitigate the additional temperature created by the logger by buying a spare Console battery door cover and drilling holes in it to create some additional ventilation. This will help reduce the additional indoor heat readings caused by the logger’s operation.

I have the same problem with WFL v1. The best solution is to set another thermometer near the console (in my case it is the wh31 sensor from ecowitt) and correct the internal temperature and humidity readings. From what I remember, it was about -2.5C for me. The WFL wifi module is probably responsible for heating. This type is like that.  ;).

You can also help mitigate the additional temperature created by the logger by buying a spare Console battery door cover and drilling holes in it to create some additional ventilation. This will help reduce the additional indoor heat readings caused by the logger’s operation.

Without the battery cover, everything will work as well, but that hardly helps at all.

WL IP, WiFiLogger and even USB logger can add extra temperature to the VP2 console.
VP2 consol was designed for RS232 logger. SHT11 is just 15mm from logger extension socket. And it is above. Heat is going up.
Vue console has temp sensor in the corner and much farther than in VP2. WLL has it in the bottom corner, this is the best in Davis solutions.

I am not feel very guilty, because of this extra temp, because original WL IP is doing the same.

In Ethernet logger and MeteoPi I have small logger board which is mounted inside console and external module.
This small logger is not making additional heat.
What is more, it is not allow to leak power from batteries to external board.

There was a time, when I have made prototype of logger extension.

It was just a prototype. I am not providing it.
