Great.Gonzos:
While active duty AF, I was escorting some contractors in a restricted area. It was late spring in Arkansas, about 3PM. . There were some storms off in the distance, but nothing close to worry about. Or so we thought. Me, and the other guy I was with were about 15 feet from a munitions building watching these contractors install some lights for the area. A bolt came down, hit the lightning suppression on the building where we were standing and dissipated into the ground. Just like it was meant to do. Unfortunately, that dissipation then hit our feet. Felt like a sledgehammer hit the bottom of our feet. Knocked both of us about 6 feet in the air. Decided right then the contractors were done for the day and we all went back inside.

CW2274:
I can't even imagine. I'm pretty sure all of us have had the 'flash/bang' simultaneously, and probably more than once, but have never experienced current, let alone causing back flips. Glad y'all decided to take it inside...while still breathing. Thank you for sharing! =D>

Closest I ever came was a group of us on school trip like 75 ish. On the beach of North Shore of New Brunswick as storm rolled in. Split a 40 foot spruce and 1/3 of it fell to the ground. We were all standing just out of reach of the falling part by about 5 feet.

We never did feel anything. Just sounded like we were inside the breech of a cannon when it was lit. Everybody, guys and gals, screamed like horror flick damsels.

CW2274:
Excellent! I was kinda hoping this would turn into story telling time... Keep'em comin' if ya got'em!

Great.Gonzos:
I can add, it was the prettiest electric blue...
